Step into the world of historic elegance and bohemian chic. Situated in the heart of Cape Town, the Cape Cadogan Hotel relives 19th century charm infused with contemporary panache. Their 13 spacious rooms feature all the necessities that have become synonymous with the More Families style and passion for creating guest experiences that leave lasting impressions. Their public areas comprise a comfortable lounge with an open fireplace, a garden and pool area, and a library where you can relax and read or use the computer terminal provided for your convenience.
The unique cosmopolitan experience of Cape Cadogan includes a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants and bars right on their doorstep. They are also located in close proximity of Table Mountain (10 minutes), the iconic Clifton beaches (15 minutes) and the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (10 minutes).
Situated in one of South Africa’s largest and malaria-free sanctuaries; rich biodiversity of mammals, such as Africa’s Big Five, cheetah, wild dog, brown and spotted hyena, oryx, eland, springbok & ostrich; excellent birdwatching with over 350 bird species; diverse geology and broad mix of habitats; exceptional field rangers; intimate accommodation with sweeping views over the game-filled plains with the Dwarsberg range forming a purple-hued backdrop; unique area imbued in history – Mzilikazi, Dr David Livingstone, Sir Cornwallis Harris and Herman Charles Bosman; effortless road and air access; part of the family owned and operated collection of More Hotel properties.
Marataba Reserve is one of the most spectacularly beautiful places we have seen, and we were left breathless when we first took it all in. Rich red mountain rock bears down on the verdant plains at its feet, and it is not hard to imagine a time long past when Stone Age settlers sought refuge in the sanctuary of Marakele. The world may be different, but this landscape is as sound and as perfect as it has always and ever been. Contrasting mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills and deep valleys characterize the park. Rare finds of yellowwood and cedar trees, 5m high cycads and tree ferns are some of the plant species you will find. All of the large game species from elephant and rhino to the big cats, as well as an amazing variety of birds (including the largest colony of endangered Cape vultures in the world, with more than 800 breeding pairs) have settled here.
What makes the Marataba experience particularly special is that it is a story about nature, animals and people. It is a story about personal commitment and dedication, about putting natural resources to best use, and about public-private partnership. It started with the commitment of Nelson Mandela, Mavuso Msimang (then CEO of South African National Parks) and Valli Moosa (then Environmental Minister), together with a passionate group of individuals who wanted to make a difference to nature in a sustainable way. This soon became a tradition taken up by the present owner families.
